How do you break up with someone you're casually dating?

I'm in college and seeing this guy at another school casually. We hang out once a week or so, but we're not having sex or anything and it's not that serious. He's a great guy but I don't want anything more relationship-wise, and with summer coming and us going back to different states, I feel like it's just time to end it. It depends on what you want to happen in the future with this guy. If you don't want to hang out with him at all anymore then you need to make it clear that things aren't working for you and that you don't want to see him anymore. If you just want the dating part over but you want to keep him in your group of friends, then you need to handle things more delicately. The cliche way to handle it is to tell him that you love him, but more like a brother than a boyfriend. Tell him that he means a lot to you but it seems too strange when you think about being intimate with him. He won't be happy, but it's hard to get mad at someone that says I care about you. Just stay away from ';let's just be friends.';
