Well, this is a tough situation since you aren't around them much. Dumping him will not be easy. All you can do is let him know you have lost feelings and that you think its time to move on. Oh make it a decision. Don't lead him on or give him signs of hope (like he might have a chance to get you back). Cut it off at the head and make sure he knows your serious and that it's over. Messaging on facebook isn't mature. It's going to hurt, no matter what. There's no shunning the responsibility for the damage you're going to do.
It's the worst thing in the world to break up with someone, but it has to be done, with compassion and sensitivity.
You can't do this with out hurting him no matter what. Just do it over the phone.
